POLICE are appealing for information after a cat was shot in Tarbolton.
On Sunday, November 5 at around 7pm, a domesticated feline was shot with an air rifle unnecessarily, in Fail Avenue.
The Ayr Advertiser Series were contacted by a member of the public, whose cat was the victim.
She said: “Someone in Tarbolton is shooting cats. Mine has been shot and the emergency vet in Kilmarnock said she had another one in with a gun shot from Tarbolton two days ago.”
A spokesman added: “We are making inquiries under the Animal Health and Welfare Scotland Act in relation to causing unnecessary suffering to a domesticated cat in that a person has shot an air rifle at a cat, causing injury.
“We are appealing for any knowledge of the incident.”
