PUPILS across Ayrshire took part in a STEM competition designed to launch them into ‘stellar’ careers.
On March, Wednesday 14 pupils from Marr College and Ayr Academy joined students from Auchinleck Academy, Greenwood Academy and Stewarton Academy at Dumfries House.
The pupils got the chance to showcase their hard work to a panel of expert judges, plus guests from industry, government and the pupils’ families as part of the Go4SET competition Celebration and Assessment Day.
Prizes awarded on the day included Best Teamwork, won by Marr College, and the Pupils’ Choice Award, which went to Ayr Academy.
The judges awarded the overall prize to Auchinleck Academy for producing the most innovative project and professional report.
This came after 12–14 year olds worked with an industry mentor on STEM-themed projects based around real-world problems - eg environmental issues to finance - for 10 weeks.
