TWO canadian canoes, strapped together, were found adfrid off Ayr.

At 11.36am on Tuesday, April 17, Troon lifeboat crew were once again activated by Belfast Coastguard after several 999 calls reporting a vessel adrift off Ayr.

Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to assist in locating the vessel while the all-weather Trent class lifeboat 'RNLB Jim Moffat' made its way to the scene.

After liaising with the members of the public on the shore, the Coastguard Team identified that the canoes had drifted off from near to the River Doon.

The owners were traced and confirmed there were no persons in difficulty.

The canoes were recovered on-board the lifeboat and returned to Troon for the owners to collect before the lifeboat was made 'ready for service' with the assistance of the shore crew.

If you think you see someone in trouble at sea, or on the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
