A TEENAGER was found in possession of a knife at the A&E department of Ayr Hospital.
The accused, who is from Ayr and cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted being in possession of the one inch blade in January this year.
The 17-year-old appeared before Sheriff Desmond Leslie at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. The court heard how police were contacted by staff because of a male who was acting suspiciously.
Depute Fiscal Hayley Robertson said: “Officers were asked to attend A&E at Ayr Hospital following a report of a man acting suspiciously. The accused appeared to be concealing items within his jacket and he was going in and out of the public toilet.
“Officers conducted a search and found a red lock knife in his trouser pocket. When he was placed under arrest he said ‘I forgot about that’.
Solicitor Tony Currie, said: “He was under the influence of alcohol and Valium.”
The 17-year-old has been placed on a structured deferred sentence.
