A TROON Lifeboat crew member’s daughter took part in a charity walk to raise money for the RNLI.

On Sunday, May 6, Katie McNeil, accompanied by her dad Colin, tackled the summit of ‘The Cobbler’, also known as Ben Arthur, which stands at 884m.

The 11-year-old raised £400 for the RNLI in Troon as part of the organisation’s Mayday campaign, which runs the whole month of May, with fundraising events taking place across the UK and Ireland.

Ayr Advertiser:

This year the charity hopes to raise £750,000 to raise money for vital crew kit.

Troon lifeboat Coxswain, Joe Millar, said: ‘Katie’s fundraising efforts are very much appreciated by everyone at Troon lifeboat and we thank for her donation towards the Mayday campaign.

“Money raised through Mayday events will help provide lifeboat crews with the best kit possible with it currently costing £1,598 to provide one all-weather lifeboat crew member with the kit they need when responding to a call for help.”
