PEOPLE from across Troon braved the elements to take part in a successful open day at the revamped Marr College.

The event, held just before the summer holidays got underway,  was organised by the school following several requests by members of the public.

Open evenings had previously been held when the school was half complete and there was the official opening but other people wanted a look around.

Representatives from the Parent Council supported the school, organising teas and coffees (with kind donations on the day by the South Beach Hotel and the Marine Hotel, as well as many parents).

Tours of the school were given by pupils and staff which had great feedback and brought back many memories for former pupils of all ages.
Pupils - current and former - seemed to really enjoy their day and there were very good vibes from the special event.

There was a small fayre which was well supported by local stall holders selling some amazing produce.

Musical entertainment was supplied on the afternoon by students.
Organisers would have loved to do more tours, but unfortunately student availability and the weather restricted them.

The scheduled Round Table barbecue had to be cancelled due to the torrential rain - hopefully something to expand on for next year.

Thanks goes to members of Troon Rotary Club, who turned out in large numbers, to help with teas and coffees and car parking management. Their support was much appreciated.
