Bookings are now open for the revamped Astoria cinema in Ayr.

Merlin Cinemas took over the former Odeon venue last year, which has undergone a major renovation ahead of its public reopening.

The cinema will now open its doors on Friday, March 29, with tickets now available to book for the first run of films.

Kung Fu Panda 4, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and Dune: Part Two are among the first films to be shown in the revamped cinema.

Tickets are now available to book online, with in-person and telephone ticket sales available when the cinema opens on March 29.

Standard tickets are priced from £5, and further savings can be made with Merlin’s Movie Magic card "offering big screen entertainment at the small price of just £4 all year round".

Their regular programme will also feature special 'revival screenings' of cinema favourites and event cinema productions including opera, ballet, theatre and music concerts.
