A popular Ayr restaurant has thanked its customers after triumphing in a national awards ceremony.

3idiots, which has its flagship restaurant in Ayr alongside another eatery in Troon, was named Recommended Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Curry Awards.

The restaurant specialises in tapas-style Indian food from its home on the town's George Street.

At last year's awards, the Troon site was given the Special Recognition Award, with staff going up to collect the gong.

The business is run by co-owners Guri Gurchet Singh and Parveen Sharma, with Parveen also setting up the busy Brown Munde restaurant in Kilmarnock last year.

The pair said:  "Last week we were invited to attend the annual awards in Glasgow but unfortunately we were to busy cooking to attend.

"However, we won most recommended Indian in Scotland and we couldn’t be prouder. We couldn’t have done it without our loyal customers old and new.

"Our hard work and dedication to making the most authentic dishes is driven by your love for it and we thank you all.

"Big shout out to our team front of house and in the kitchen. They do the most amazing job and make our restaurant the family it is.

"Massive thank you to our head chef and master of Indian cuisine Gurjit Singh. This man is our teacher and mentor with 20 years' experience.

"He is truly an inspiration and does authentic Indian food the justice it deserves.

"Our trophy will take pride of place in Ayr, where it all began for 3idiots, as a way to remind us of how far we have come."
