A KITCHEN fire caused alarm in Troon last week.

Two fire crews from the town raced to Succession House at 9.21pm on Wednesday March 9.

Firefighters discovered that a pan of hot cooking oil was alight in the ground floor flat kitchen.

Incident commander John Moffat then instructed teams to enter the flat and tackle the fire - which was done by the removal of the burning pan.

One woman suffered slight smoke inhalation and was given oxygen therapy by firefighters until arrival of paramedics.

Upon further treatment by medics it was determined that she did not have to attend hospital for further treatment.

Station Commander Derek Davidson said: “There has been a high number of cooking related fires throughout the Ayrshire area in the past week alone.

"I can only continue to reiterate the importance of maintaining full concentration when undertaking any type of cooking task.

"Fire starts when your attention stops and can spread remarkably quickly putting lives at risk.”
