FUNDRAISING has been on fire at Prestwick Academy.

ON Thursday March 10, the Young Fundraisers held the annual Prestwick Academy Talent Show.

A variety of performers took part from baton twirling to Ocarina playing.

The audience and judges; Mrs Hunter, PC Collins and Miss Smart enjoyed a total of nine acts with a special preview of ‘We Will Rock You’ which will hit our stage in June 2016.

The evening, run by S6 Young Fundraisers raised money for Alzheimer’s Scotland and is our last Young Fundraiser event this academic year.

Pupils will now work on their SQA Leadership unit and focus on exam preparation.

The winners, Fern Murphy and Ciara Jackson blew everyone away with their phenomenal performance.

As Fern took to the mic to sing, Ciara danced gracefully on stage beside her.

Both girls ooze talent and will take lead roles in our production of We Will Rock You in June.

Second place went to group, Fyra.

Olivia had the audience singing along and tapping their feet as the rest of the band played cello, saxophone and piano.

This was the last time Ben Lomako, Olivia Martin, Kristy Ireland and Amy Cairns will perform together before leaving Prestwick Academy in June.

Judge Mrs Hunter commented on how much they have grown as talented musicians during their time at Prestwick Academy and wished them well.

We will miss their enthusiastic and energetic performance in next years talent show.

Third place went to Callum Cranston who will also wow audiences in June.

He sang, Bring Him Home from the hit musical, Les Miserable and judges commented on the beautiful tone of his voice.

A special prize for professionalism went to S1 pupil, Katie Trotter who sang ‘Read all about It’ by Emeli Sande.

Katie was our youngest performer of the evening and we look forward to seeing her grow and perform in many more talent show’s in the future!

A great night was had by all participants and we’d like to thank the lively audience for their encouragement.

We Will Rock You will take place on the evenings of; June 6, 8 and 9. Mrs Catterall said Coldplay asked her to cancel the June 7 show as they were worried about their Glasgow ticket sales.
