OVER £1million has been promised for a £4.5million project to build 42 new council houses built in Ayr.
The affordable housing will be constructed at Thorneyflat Road in North Ayr and were given £1.5million aid by the Scottish Government.
South Ayrshire Council is already calling the project the most significant building programme of more than 30 years and believe it will further enhance an area of the town which is already undergoing significant transformation with regeneration developments at Lochside.
The tendering process for contractors will get underway early in the New Year, with work expected to start mid-summer.
