The owners of an Ayr sex shop have been charged with selling plant food drug mephedrone in the town where a teenager died after taking the narcotic.

Frank Nicholson, 59, and Margaret McCracken, 48, face a total of five charges relating to the sale of mephedrone in their Bodystyle outlet in Ayr's Burns Statue Arcade.

They are charged with selling Moonshine bath salts or plant food, containing mephedrone to a female trading standards officer and encouraging her to injest it.
