AYR'S new chief fire fighter is delighted to be back at the station he once called home.

A former watch commander at Ayr, Scott Cunningham, 43, is the new station commander following the retirement of Mark Sweeney, bringing with him a wealth of experience as a commander at four other fire stations.

Scott said: "I am delighted to be back here, it's a great station. I still have a few friends and colleagues here, two or three have come in and two or three have retired from when I was here last.

"I am picking up where I left off, it's a good station with good people and I am delighted to be back."
