Councillor Hywell Davies: "Like many Scottish councils we have a problem with children from dysfunctional families and I think the thinking at the moment is that we engage with them from very early on."

TEN nursery nurse posts are to be axed in South Ayrshire as a reconfigured early intervention plan was approved by councillors.

Proposals brought before members, which included the job cuts, saw savings of just over £200,000 as council officers attempted to improve early intervention services and support for children and families.
