THE future of the Ayr to Stranraer train line has been dealt a further blow by a ferry company's decision to bus travellers to Cairnryan.

But rail campaigners are fighting back by proposing a direct train link from Stranraer to Glasgow to boost the number of passengers using the line.

Richard Carr, of The Stranraer to Ayr Line Support Association, (SAYLSA), said: "We don't want the line to wither away because of lack of sensible action."
