A THUG brained his neighbour with a crowbar because he suspected him of smashing a glass panel in the front door of his flat.

It did not take officers long to catch up with 30-year-old Thomas McLean, since shortly after the attack he was standing in the central reservation of a busy road only yards from Ayr Police Office waving the weapon above his head.
