HISTORIC sites throughout South Ayrshire will throw open their doors to the public in September.

Over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2, Ayrshire will celebrate 23 years of Doors Open Day with over 70 buildings throughout the region welcoming visitors in for a look round.

From Troon to Girvan buildings such as churches, castles and town halls will be open to the public thanks to the Ayrshire organisers Kyle and Carrick Civic Society.

South Ayrshire sites include: Dundonald Castle, Tower of St John's in Ayr, Croy House, Stumpy Tower in Girvan, Ayr Sheriff Court, and The Cells at Ayr Town Hall.
