SOME South Ayrshire schoolkids look set to have an extended holiday as adverse weather conditions shut three primaries.
A spokeswoman for South Ayrshire Council said they plan to re-open as many schools as possible tomorrow (Thursday, January 7).
But due to the adverse weather, some schools have suffered from frozen access roads and burst water pipes meaning three primary schools will not be reopening tomorrow morning.
The affected schools are:
Straiton Primary School
Kirkmichael Primary School
Minishant Primary School
Secondary school pupils travelling from Straiton will not have transport available on Thursday and should remain at home. However, normal transport arrangements to Carrick Academy will be provided for pupils from Kirkmichael.
Any families who experience severe difficulties caused by these arrangements should contact the council on 01292 612347.
Parents of pupils in Symington Primary are also reminded that the school is open only for nursery and primary 1 pupils on Thursday, January 7 and Friday, January 8 January due to planned school upgrade work. The school will be open for all pupils from Monday, January 11.
