A MAN who tried to take a knife into court when he was facing a drugs charge has been jailed for nine months.

Security guards at Ayr Sheriff Court found the weapon when they searched John Ferguson, 29, as he entered the building on January 19.

Solicitor Ian Gillies said: "He was due in court that day for a trial in which a plea had been agreed.
