Today (Tuesday, February 23) South Ayrshire Tenants Group meet in the John Pollock Centre, Mainholm Road, Ayr, between 2pm and 4pm. Tenants of South Ayrshire Council - come and air your views on any issues you have. A few Councillors usually attend.

The line dancing group at Troon Old Parish Church meet for an hour at 10am then Mothers & Toddlers until 12.30pm.

That afternoon OIR Ayr have a general meeting at 1.30pm in Newton Church Hall. Their speaker, Ann Moulds, will give a talk on 'Stalking' and a cordial welcome is extended to all members.

Tonight the Ayr Philatelic Society hold an auction number two at 7.30pm in the Loudoun Hall, Boat Vennel, Ayr.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, February 24) Troon Arthritis Group meet at 2pm in the Pentland Hall of St Meddan's Church, Troon. The meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month, same time and place and new members are welcome. The Troon Arthritis Group is committed to provide for the needs of all people suffering from arthritis, or having an interest in the well-being of such suffers in the Troon area. For information on Troon Arthritis Group membership arrangements, please contact the Troon Arthritis Group Chairman Jim Brodlie on 01292 314002.

The Troon Old Parish Church mid-week service is at 11.30am with tea/coffee before the service and lunch served afterwards. Vestry hour in the manse is 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

On Thursday, February 25, delve into the mystique of Robert Burns. Have you ever wondered about the women who inspired the love songs of Robert Burns? Gill Bowman provides the answers. Lighting candles and polishing glasses in anticipation of his arrival, she dishes out the dirt. If you missed Hansel's Jean Armour Supper you might like to enjoy lunch at Brig O'Doon House Hotel when Gill will entertain with her one woman performance "Toasting the Lassies". That evening the Ayrshire Archaeological and Natural History Society will meet for their regular meeting in the Carnegie Library, Ayr (use Garden Street entrance). Tonight's topic is The Covenanting Movement between the Restoration of 1660 and the Revolution of 1689-90 by Professor Alan MacInnes from Strathclyde University. Visitors are welcome.

Members of Troon Old Parish Church Mothers & Toddlers are reminded about their normal get together from 9.30am until 11.30am.

PICTURE: The first meeting of the year for Troon Arthritis Group was marked by a moving talk and emotional reunion.

Group chairman Jim Brodlie welcomed all members and friends to the talk by a long time friend of his, Magdalene Hornby.
