Prestwick Airport say they are back on track

DESPITE losing millions of pounds from the grounding of all flights, Prestwick Airport say they are on the road to recovery.
The South Ayrshire base was one of several airports which had to close for a full week due to safety concerns about volcanic ash getting into plane engines.
It left hundreds of thousands of British passengers stranded across globe, unable to return home.
For Prestwick Airport things are now getting back to normal and all flights are on schedule, but the full effects will be long lasting.
Speaking to the Ayr Advertiser Series, Prestwick Airport chief executive Iain Cochrane said: "We were losing on average of 4,000 passengers a day which roughly works out as 37 flights a day from Thursday to more or less the following Thursday. It has had a significant impact on the airport."
