Huge new Marr campus on way

PLANS for a new high school in Troon are finally on the move after months of speculation.

According to outside consultants, the current B listed Marr College building is "struggling to meet the demands of learning and teaching in the 21st century".

The community will now be consulted over moving Marr to Dundonald Road Playing Fields.

Others areas looked at for the new site include North East Troon, Darley Golf Course, Fullarton and Dundonald Road.

But South Ayrshire Council officers are concerned that the Dundonald Road Playing Fields bid will be "unpopular" due to the loss of some grassland and it being overlooked by housing.
