AN Ayr Post Office refused to compensate a woman after they gave her a forged £20 note, it was claimed last week.
Mrs Elizabeth Scott, 58, from Fulshaw Crescent, Ayr, says she was given a forged bank note when collecting her disability benefit from the Post Office in WH Smith on Ayr High Street on Wednesday, August 11.
The note was subsequently confiscated by Mrs Scott’s bank and the Post Office refused to reimburse her, claiming they needed to verify the forgery themselves.
The next day (Thursday, August 12) however, after speaking to the Ayr Advertiser Series, Mrs Scott was reimbursed the money ‘as a goodwill payment’ at the Post Office when she returned on other business.
