Tom is hailed a community hero after decades of work

A GRANDFATHER who has been involved with the RNLI for nearly 40 years and dedicated his life to helping his communtiy has been awarded Troon Civic Award for 2012.

Tom Brown, whose wife Jenny was given the honour 15 years ago, said he got 'the surprise of his life' when he was told that he had won the award.
