AN MSP visited Spirit AeroSystems in Prestwick as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week.
Brian Whittle MSP spoke to current and past apprentices about their experiences of Modern Apprenticeships before being taken on a tour of Spirit’s site.
He said: “Apprenticeships have changed dramatically in recent years; there are now more options than ever before for an apprentice to learn everything from traditional trades to advanced engineering or coding.
“Spirit’s commitment to recruiting apprentices and supporting them to develop their skills and build a long-term career with the company is exactly the right attitude to have.
“It was a pleasure to visit Spirit and speak with some of their talented apprentices.
“I hope more people, particularly school leavers, will give serious thought to apprenticeships as a means of learning new skills while gaining hands on experience in the world of work.”
