COUNCIL officers are set to ask councillors permission to let them appoint a design team for the South Carrick Major Development project.

At today's meeting, Tuesday, February 14, of South Ayrshire Council's leadership panel council officers are set to ask for powers to appoint a design team for the 'multi-facility' planned for Girvan's shore front because they think the tender process will last until the council elections.

Officers warned members of the panel in their report that 'rejecting the recommendation may impact on the reputation of the council', but added that there is 'sufficient funding available to cover the cost of the Design Team' - a cost estimated at £300,000.
