A CHAMPION golfer from Troon is celebrating back-to-back successes in major events.

The 2010 Scottish Championship winner and former Walker Cup player Michael Stewart secured first place finishes in two winter events played in the county.

Troon Welbeck ace Stewart carded a three under par 68 over Troon Darley in the CT Sports Academy Pro Winter series 18-hole tournament on January 12 to tie first place with Cameron Farrell (Cardross).

The pair finished two shots ahead of amateur Craig Ross (Kirkhill) in third place.

The following day, Stewart won a Glasgow Golf Centre-sponsored tournament at Glasgow Gailes, carding a second successive score of three under par 68 to win by two shots from Farrell, who had tied with him at Troon.
