GLASGOW 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Paul Foster was celebrating yet more success Down Under on Friday.

The Troon man, who won the World Indoor Bowling Championship for a fifth time in January, teamed up with longtime friend Alex "Tattie", Darren Burnett and his brother Ryan to win the Pairs title at Broadbeach Bowls Club on the Gold Coast.

The Scots defeated an Australian quartet 13-9 in a competitive final, which was played late on Thursday night into Friday morning our time.

Broadbeach has been selected to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the tournament allowed the players to try it out ahead of next year.

Victory allowed the stars to pay tribute to Alex's mother, who was an avid bowls fan and would have been thrilled with their success.

Foster, who looks almost certain to be selected for next year, said: "We were delighted with the win, the Australian players are really fast so this was a test for us. It was mainly Australian players but we beat a good Malaysian team in the quarter-finals. Broadbeach is good venue for the Games."

Foster has been out in Australia acclimatising for around a month and took part in an Eight Nations event. He was beaten in the Singles final and came fifth in the triples and pairs.
