MEMBERS of the Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club gathered in the luxurious setting of Elliot's in Prestwick to celebrate the achievements of the season just finished.

Following an excellent meal, club chairman John Strawhorn presented the awards for an impressive list of performances. The triathlete of the year accolade went to two of the younger generation, with Mandy Stewart taking the female trophy and Marc Auchie the male award.

Club champions were Lorna Todd and Davie Auchie, and club points winners were Lyndsey Blair and Alastair Stewart.

Silver salvers were also presented to several athletes who had distinguished themselves in a wide variety of events.

These included recognition to Gavin Kelly for the completion of his first Iron Man Triathlon at Bolton, and Carol Boyd for Iron Man Copenhagen.

An impressively large number of club members were rewarded for selection for British Age Group teams, and for success in Scottish Multi-Sport Championships.

Lorna Todd, Lorna Sloan, Emma Lunan, Mandy Stewart, Branagh Wishart, Davie Auchie, Marc Auchie, Stewart Bailey, Andy Rennie and Alastair Stewart were all honoured in this way.

Further recognition came to the club when at the Triathlon Scotland AGM on Sunday, senior club coach Stewart Bailey received a prestigious award for making a special contribution to the development of the sport.

As well as his work with Ayrodynamic TRI Club, Stewart works with the Scottish Youth Triathlon squad. It is a merited reward for the coach’s hard work and dedication

across multi-sport development, and the club is delighted to see Stewart recognised in this way.
