GIRVAN coach Scott Clelland was disappointed with his side after they lost 3-1 to Cumnock at Townhead Park

Clelland felt his side weren't good enough against the Super League Premier Division strugglers. He said: "We were second best from start to finish. It showed that we've not played since, I think it was November, our last league game up at Clydebank.

"First 30 minutes, they ran over the top of us but the last 15 minutes of the first half we were decent and we got back into it but that was as good as it got for us. There were a lot of tired legs.

"Michael Reilly missed a sitter with a header and they go up the park and score. Then Paul Cameron misses an open goal and they go up the park and score. That's what defines it when you're playing against teams like Cumnock and Talbot. You need to take those chances and today we didn't take them.

"Cumnock play the pitch well, it's astroturf and they knocked it about well. We weren't good enough at the end of the day. They've got an advantage with the astroturf pitch and they used it to their advantage today.

"We've got to look at where Cumnock are budget wise and where Girvan is – they are miles above us and it showed today. We'll get our heads together and we'll move onto next week

The Seasiders now face a horror run as they take on Glenafton twice, Auchinleck Talbot, Pollok and Kilwinning Rangers in their next five games. Clelland added: "When I got here we had 10 players training and seven boys injured so we're starting to get everybody back and fit. We've got Kieran Balfour on loan from Ayr United and he'll make a difference for us."
