THE weather last Sunday was in two parts.

Ayr Roads/Harry Fairbairn Cycling Club members who competed with the other Ayrshire clubs in the Scottish Cyclo Cross event staged over Irvine Beach Park enjoyed a mixture of conditions.

As always, the course proved technical and with the wet ground conditions, it put to test the skills of the riders.

The main race was won by David Lines, with Brian Yates of Carrick Cycling Club continuing in excellent form by taking 5th place. Neil Walker of the Kilmaurs Club also did well in finishing 15th and Paul Gibson of the Carrick club finishing 34th.overall. Alex McAllister of the Roads club finished down the field. In the B Race Iain Fisher finished in 31st place with his mother Aileen taking 1st Ladies prize. Another excellent result.

On the same day, the Roads Sunday club run experienced a mixture of weather and ran into snow, which forced a retreat from their coastal route, when road conditions became a bit treacherous under wheel. The midweek club outing was much better, with a foursome clocking up a seventy mile ride, that took in Barr and the Stinchar Valley.
