UPBEAT Maybole boss Carlo Walker saluted his side for producing a comeback which saw them salvage a point in the final game of the season.

But he feels there is room for improvement as the curtain comes down on another campaign.

He said after the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw at Burnside Park: "I am not going to criticise Muirkirk as they do what they do - and do it well.

"With 20 minutes to go and two goals down, I am pleased to get the point. It almost feels like a victory when you score late on, although it wasn't a great game.

"Hats off to Muirkirk though, they have improved an awful lot. We scored nine goals against them the last time, although their current management team had just taken over."

He is now focusing on season 2018-19.

He added: "We will be in the new League One and will go again. We have a young squad, who need time to develop and I may shout at them some time, but it is constructive.

"No-one gets any better by being told that they are rubbish. They need time to mature and I have most of them signed.

"Just now, we are quite comfortable in the league we are going into. There are some decent clubs like Winton and Yoker in it.

"So we are happy enough with that and look forward to it."
