LONGTIME Ayr United fan and businessman Stewart Hay is celebrating after winning the back of the shirts advertising in the Ayr United FC Shirt and Short Draw at the Somerset Park Hospitality Suite on Friday.

The former Girvan man, who works for Aberdeen Standard Investments, was confirmed as the winner of the top prize at the end of the evening. But he will not be promoting his own name on the jerseys.

He said: "I am delighted to win and pleased to support the club by entering the event.

"I have spoken to the Commercial Manager Graeme Miller and said I don't want myself promoted. He's looking at the idea of having the name of a charity or charities that the club support displayed and that would be a good idea."

Added Stewart, who now lives in Edinburgh: "I really enjoyed last season and attend games when I can. I really enjoyed the last game of the season when we won the title and eldest son, Nicholas and met the player Steven Bell."

Winners of the runner-up prize, short sponsorship were Maybole-based independent whisky company AD Rattray, who specialise in single cask whiskies.
