THE governing body for bowls in Scotland has launched an appeal for volunteers in Ayrshire to lend a hand at their National Championships in Ayr this summer.

The Bowls Scotland championships, being run from July 27 to August 3 at the National Centre for Bowling, are one of Scotland's largest annual sporting events.

During the week, more than 1,500 players from clubs across Scotland, and 7,000 spectators, will pass through the gates at Northfield, the home of Scottish bowls.

Bowls Scotland has a number of roles for which it is seeking volunteers at the event - and the organisation says no previous experience is required.

Volunteer help is needed in general admission and ticket sales, information booth attendants, cloakroom assistants, general marshalling, photography and communication support, live scoring assistants and other roles.

Anyone wishing to volunteer should complete a short online sign-up process, with a closing date for submissions of Friday, April 12 at 5pm.

If anyone has any questions or requires further information, they can contact Adam Martin via adammartin@bowlsscotland.com.
