DEVELOPING young footballers are given a platform for their talents thanks to the Ayr United Football Academy.

They have an opportunity to sharpen up their skills and may one day have the chance to follow in the footsteps of Alan Forrest and Robbie Crawford, who came through the ranks of the Academy to become first team regulars

Classes are run for mini-kickers - three to four-year-olds and the next step up are Football Centre, which give children aged from five to 12 the chance to play in a fun and safe environment.

At the Football Centres, more emphasis is placed on structured activities and players are able to look at the key components of the game, including passing, dribbling, shooting and control.

Sessions are held throughout the week at venues across South Ayrshire and new recruits are always welcome.

Our pictures show youngsters in action at the Min-Kickers class which is hosted by United midfielder Mikey Donald In Muirhead Activity Centre on Friday afternoons.
