MIDFIELD ace Ross Docherty was singled out by boss Ian McCall as one of the key players in Ayr United's battling 1-1 draw away to Morton.

Now he is targeting victory in the Honest Men's final two games to keep alive their hopes of survival.

United on Saturday host Ladbrokes Championship winners Hibernian and seven days later they head to the Kingdom of Fife to face fellow strugglers Raith Rovers.

Docherty told Sportscene: "We had chances to win the game on Saturday but at least we took a point and it was good to see Craig Moore score, he as done well since coming back from injury . We always knew it was going to be difficult when we were promoted last season and that's how it has turned out to be. We had a good start and there was a period round about January when we were struggling and just couldn't win a game. If you had given us the scenario that we were still in with a chance of staying up at the start of the season the we would have taken it.

"The aim is to win our last two games and focus on ourselves. We have already beaten Hibs and drawn away against them this season so that should give us confidence, hopefully we can take three points and the fans will give us good backing."

Manager Ian McCall said: "We had good balls into the six-yard box against Morton but had no-one to finish them off. It's unfortunate it wasn't three points but we have to win on Saturday and hope Hibs can do us a favour by beating Raith Rovers in midweek,"
