IRVINE VICTORIA 4

CRAIGMARK BURNTONIANS 1

by Matt Speirs

ALTHOUGH Craigmark lost their unbeaten league record, the final score did not reflect how the game went.

Early exchanges were pretty even with neither side able to find a way past the defence to create a scoring chance.

All this changed in 17 minutes when a long throw-in from George Bonnar found Sean Mears at the back post and he netted with ease.

Six minutes later it was 2-0 when Craigmark keeper Matin McClymont saved well, turning the ball out to the touch line where Jordan Craig sent a cross cum

shot that landed in the far corner of the net.

It was three four minutes before the interval when David Adams picked the ball up on the left and ran in to score.

Craigmark came out fighting in the second half and in 49 minutes, Declan Dunlop beat two defenders but his shot was blocked for a corner. From the corner Marc Dyer had a shot cleared off the line.

A goal had to come for Craigmark and it was Daniel McColgan who rose to head high into the net from six yards to finally get them on the scoresheet.

The Vics defence were struggling to cope at his stage of the match and when a Scott Dempster corner was cleared to the edge of the box to Willie Hall but

his shot was too high.

Vics began to impose themselves on the match again and McClymont produced a fine save to deny Craig.

Four minutes later Martin McClymont kept his side in the match with another fine save from Callum Davidson.

Substitute Eddie Ablohr ensured the points would remain at Victoria Park 12 minutes from time when he cut in from the left and netted.
