PETERSHILL 3

TROON 3

A LAST gasp leveller denied Troon all three points.

But assistant manager Matt Maley said they should have seen the game out after taking a 2-0 lead.

He said: "We have been on a great run since losing to Irvine Meadow in the opening game. But we really should have won after taking a 2-0 lead but this is something we will learn from. It has been a good run as we are unbeaten since the Meadow match. We look forward to the Scottish Cup tie against Renfrew on Saturday and will be looking to win that. It would be good to have a run in the cup."

Troon were without Dean Keenan and Scott Chatham for this important game.

They made the perfect start by opening the scoring in six minutes, Jack Paterson ending a lovely move with a fine goal.

Troon added a second goal in 20 minutes, Ross Barbour converting a Scott McLean cross.

Dale Shirkie had the ball in the net two minutes later but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Petershill pulled a goal back in 25 minutes, Jordan Murch latching on to a cut back and shooting past Ally McInnes.

Peasy almost equalised five minutes before the interval but Jason Hardie's shot rebounded off the post.

It was all square in 69 minutes, Petershill netting with a fine finish at the back post.

Two minutes from the end Troon were awarded a penalty and Ross Barbour seemed to have sealed the points.

However the match had five minutes of injury-time and in the last minute Petershill equalised to gain a valuable point.
