ANNBANK UNITED 0

WHITLETTS VICTORIA 2

FORM team Whitletts made it three successive victories as they moved into third place in the Ayrshire District League following this comfortable victory over Annbank at New Pebble Park.

Right from kick-off Whitletts were the more positive and Louis Kerr fired just past. Then from a quick Martin Lawrie free-kick, Craig Harvey’s angled drive was deflected inches wide.

The visitors who were having the bulk of the possession but midway through the half it was Annbank who almost opened the scoring when Isaac Kerr failed to deal with a through ball allowing Dillon Dunn to race clear but the Bankies striker lifted his attempt over the crossbar.

Vics were controlling the midfield but the Bankies defence were proving difficult to breach although Jordan Boyd went close with his close range attempts from a Harvey byeline cutback that was deflected over.

United were rarely seen as an attacking force although just before the break McLean Simpson headed wide from six yards.

It was a similar story in the second period as Vics were controlling proceedings but finding it difficult to create any clear cut chances.

Josh Sloan went close as his effort flashed past the angle following a whipped cross from Sean Ewart while Boyd saw his shot from the edge of the box deflected wide after Harvey set him up.

The game changer however came in 72 minutes. As Craig Harvey turned his man on the halfway line he was deliberately tripped by Grant Kirkwood for which the Bankies defender received a second yellow card. And Whitletts made their extra-man advantage count immediately as from a Munyaradzi corner kick, Raymond Buchanan headed the ball back across goal and Sloan bundled t from close range.

It was no more than Vics had deserved for their dominance and just two minutes later Buchanan tried an audacious effort from ten yards inside his own half when he saw Marc Fisher off his line and the Bankies keeper had to scramble back towards his own goal to and save his own blushes as he pushed the big defenders attempt over the crossbar.

Any doubt about the outcome were put to bed in 76 minute as Vics went two-up. A Munyaradzi cross into the danger zone saw Declan Milligan put the home defence under pressure and the ball broke off the unfortunate Jack Sherrie into his own net.

Antonio Sisi went close for Bankies with a shot from which dipped just over the bar but Vic almost scored again in the final minute as Louis Kerr was through on a one-on-one only to be denied by a fine one-handed save by Marc Fisher
