CUMNOCK 5

by Matt Speirs

PREMIER League Cumnock were too strong for Craigmark and ran out easy winners in the end.

The early exchanges were pretty even with Craigmark's Scott Dempster twice having efforts saved by Ally Semple in the Cumnock goal.

Cumnock took the lead in 15 minutes when Scott Anson played in Sean McKenzie, who rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net.

The lead was doubled in 21 minutes when Ray Montgomerie won the ball played in Keiron Woods who crossed for Anson to net.

Craigmark almost pulled a goal back on the half hour Scott Dempster cut in but his low shot was saved by Ally Semple.

Cumnock put the match beyond Craigmark just before the interval, Montgomerie netting.

It was four in 55 minutes, Montgomerie squaring to Anson who netted.

A swerving shot from Craigmark substitute Kyle Ferguson was saved by Semple, with James Lundie completing the clearance.

Ten minutes from time Anson completed his hat-trick, latching on to a McLaughlin cross and driving the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Craigmark were denied a consolation goal near the end when substitute Graham Cross played in Dempster but Semple spread himself to deny the striker.
