GIRVAN were without centre backs Danny Cunningham and Stevie O'Donnell for this second round cup match against the lower league side at Hamilton Park.

East Kilbride went ahead in six minutes when an effort was only half cleared by

the Girvan defence and the ball was driven into the net from six yards.

Girvan had a chance to equalise two minutes later Craig Reid played in Robert Paterson but his shot found the side net.

Two minutes later Michael Mossie held the ball and played it back to Scott Dinwoodie

whose shot hit the outside of the post.

Girvan received a blow in 13 minutes when Mossie, their only recognised central defender was injured and had to be replaced by Mark Cameron.

Midway through the half Paul Cameron broke through but a defender cleared his effort.

Girvan had a chance in 27 minutes when a free-kick 22 yards out was driven over the bar by Jack McDowall.

East Kilbride doubled their lead in 34 minutes when a sweeping move ended with a shot from eight yards into the net.

Girvan got back into the match in 42 minutes when a corner-kick was only partially cleared and when the ball came back, Michael Reilly headed it into

the net.

Five minutes after the interval it was all square - a Craig Reid cross was volleyed into the net by Jack McDowall.

Two minutes later however East Kilbride were back in front poor defending at the back of the box allowed the forward to net.

Girvan threw everything into attack but the East Kilbride defence stood firm to book their place in the third round.
