Scottish Junior Cup Second Round

ANNBANK UNITED 1

COLONY PARK 2

BANKIES lost out on a place in the third round of the Scottish Cup with an inept display against Inverurie side Colony Park.

This tie was switched to Dam Park Stadium, owing to ongoing concerns about the surface at New Pebble Park.

The home side started brightly and in three minutes a shot from Lee Sloan was diverted for a corner.

Four minutes later it took a good save by Marc Fisher to deny visiting player Andrew Bisset the opening goal. From the clearance former Ayr United striker Roddy Paterson was clean through but shot weakly wide of target.

Another good save by Fisher in 19 minutes again denied Andrew Bisset the opening goal.

Two minutes later Annbank went ahead and it was Roddy Paterson made ground down the right and his low cross was shot high into the net by Jamie Martin.

Four minutes after the interval a cross by Andrew Hainey was headed wide by Paterson.

Colony Park drew level in 55 minutes when Jack Strachan turned his opponent wide on the right and his low cross was turned into his own net by Grant Kirkwood.

Three minutes later Bankies almost went ahead again but Grant Kirkwoods header

from a Jamie Martin corner hit the bar.

With 15 minutes left, Colony Park went ahead when Jack Strachan again turned his marker at the corner flag and his low cross was turned into the net by Stuart

McKay.

Right on the final whistle Annbank were denied a penalty when Joe Barbour pulled down McLean Simpson.

The referee turned away the claims by Annbank and booked Simpson for diving as the Highlanders held on to progress.

ANNBANK UNITED: Fisher; Baird, Graham, Hainey, Kirkwood, L Sloan, Martin, Millarvie, Paterson, Stevenson, Dunn. Subs: Barrett, Granger, Simpson, Sisi, T Sloan.
