IMPRESSIVE Craigmark pulled off one of their biggest cup upsets in recent years when they sent the Super First Division side crashing out at Station Park.

The visitors had former Dundee United ace Robbie Winters in their line-up but were still second best to the improving East Ayrshire outfit.

Ian Patterson's team fell behind early on but battle back to pull off a famous triumph and set up a second round tie away to Ashfield.

Cumbernauld began strongly and opened the scoring in 15 minutes with a header at the back post.

However the home side levelled with a well-worked goal 10 minutes later as Fraser Lamont made a surging run down the right hand side and squared to Jordan "Crusher" Barr who netted with a great shot at the back post.

Then just before half-time the hosts seized the advantage in stunning style, as Dan McColgan let fly with a 25-yard rocket into the bottom corner of the net.

Early in the second half home goalie Matthew McClymont made a great stop to keep his side ahead.

However on the hour the visitors were awarded a penalty following a handball from home player Joe Maxwell, who was red-carded. However brave McCloymont died to keep out the spot kick effort and take his side through.
