SHATTERED Troon FC boss Jim Kirkwood said Saturday's 2-2 draw at New Western Park felt more like a defeat.

The Seasiders twice held the lead against hosts Renfrew, only to be pegged back twice by the hosts who scored a late wonder goal to steal a point .

They have now picked up four points out of six in games against the visitors this season.

Kirkwood said: "It really does feel like three points dropped for us as I feel we had enough chances to win the game, especially in the first half and it's frustrating. We did well to go ahead with a wonder goal from our striker Steven McCreadie who is capable of so much. Then they got a very dubious penalty. Our goalie Ally McInnes was adjudged to have fouled their player inside the box but he went for the ball and there was no foul.

"We then did well to get ahead after a stonewall penalty when their goalie cleared out Dylan Pooler.

"But it was disappointing to concede a free-kick on the edge of the box and I can have no complaints as it was a poor challenge from our striker Mark Curragh and the goal from the free-kick is as good as any I have seen in Junior football."

Troon on Saturday host Largs Thistle and Kirkwood says it's vital they get a result.

He said: "We can't afford to lose to Largs - our home form hasn't been great - if we beat them we will be two points clear with four games in hand. But if we lose we will be four behind. Our target is promotion."
