SOUTH Ayrshire welcomed 15 students and two teachers from the Leonardo da Vinci College of St Germain en Laye, France - Ayr's twin town.

The students are all studying at the technical college, undertaking mainly mechanical and electrical engineering subjects and met South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie at Ayr Town Hall, where they were clearly fascinated with the architecture and history of the building.

Provost Moonie welcomed the group saying: "Last year, my first official duty as the new Provost for South Ayrshire was to welcome an exchange group from St Germain to Ayr and I'm delighted to have that honour again almost a year later.

"In 1984, when Ayr and St Germain-en-Laye were officially married together, the people of both towns started out on an exciting relationship, which has led them to learn and appreciate a great deal about our different cultures and lifestyles."
