Marr College made it a league and cup double when they beat Auchenharvie Academy 65-60 in the Ayrshire schools open boys" league game at Stevenson. Marr struggled early in the first quarter and only three point baskets from Keiran Bennett and Jordan McIwraith and two baskets from Harry Kerr kept Marr in the game as Auchenharvie finished the quarter ahead 17-10. Marr"s captain, Gregor Anderson, then seemed to come alive in what was his last game for Marr College, and took control of the game. His 10 second quarter points sparked an improvement at the defense end which saw Auchenharvie limited to a miserly six points giving Marr a 32-23 lead at the end of the first half.

Marr extended the lead to 50-38 by the end of the third quarter and although Auchenharvie made a run on the back of 15 last quarter points from Jordan Thomson, Marr held on for the win. Team: Callum Gwynne, Grant Gwynne, Keiran Bennett, Harry Kerr, Gregor Anderson (capt, 28 points), Daniel Muir (10 points), Alan Bruce, Jordan McIwraith (14 points), Chris Savage, Rory McCabe, Josh Hunter. The same two schools were in action in the First years Ayrshire schools league and although Marr put up a good performance they eventually went down 62-46 league winners Auchenharvie Academy. At the end of the first quarter Marr trailed 10-8 and the second quarter was tied 10-10. Going into the last quarter the game was still close with Marr only down 38-32 but a seven man Marr team ran out of steam in the last quarter. Auchenharvie have a couple of very tall players and Marr found it difficult to stop them although Craig Moffat and Mark Gebbie, with 16 points each, showed that they have offensive talents. Team: Craig Moffat, Mark Gebbie, Stewart Dunlop, Euan Walker, Alan Gebbie, Liam Friel, Grant Lea.

All the Ayrshire schools league have now been decided with Auchenharvie winning the First year boys league and Marr College winning the Under-14, Under-15 and Open boys leagues. The under-15 and open boys" leagues were very competitive with at least 3 teams in each league being in contention of winning the leagues. Marr College also won the Ayrshire open boys cup and Largs Academy won the Under-15 Ayrshire cup. The only cup competitions remaining to be decided are the first year boys and Under-14 boys and these finals will be contested by Marr College and Auchenharvie Academy.
