AYR’S social enterprise restaurant, Unity Grill, opened its doors to its first customers at the weekend.
They opened to the community on Sunday, April 1 after a successful launch the night before where Angela McNay, the owner, thanked everyone for their support.
Those who cannot afford to pay for a meal can volunteer their time in return for a voucher to use then or return another time.
Unity Grill’s mission is to provide a welcome table, delicious food and community spirited sharing.
Angela has confirmed that 100 per cent of profits will be used to challenge food poverty. Unity Grill is being supported by Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA)
Angela previously said: “We have three of the richest areas in Scotland but we also have three of the poorest. Some 18,000 people will go to bed hungry in South Ayrshire alone.” Their moto is ‘Eat Well. Do Good’.
