IT IS a bittersweet farewell after a long-established business in Troon is set to close its doors.
The only one of its kind in the town, Lomond Jewellery owners Norman and Eleanor Whyte, have decided to retire after having their shop for over a decade, ceasing trade on Saturday, April 28.
Speaking to the Troon Times, Norman said: “It is going to be sad, but we will still be able to help out if anyone is wanting a battery fitted – we are not completely away from our customers.
"It will be a change – we have been to numerous weddings of customers of those who have bought engagement and wedding rings from us and we’ve became friends with everyone.
“It has been really overwhelming. With other places, you are just dealing with numbers but here you are making friends.
“Thank you for all the support to the local shops – it is very important to the community so please continue that – it has been overwhelming by the love and support we’ve had. It has been unbelievable.”
Norman and Eleanor will still be available for fitting batteries and repairing any jewellery, watches and pearl restringing and they can be contacted on 07710 146090.
