TWO applications have been submitted to turn post offices in Barassie and Prestwick into a hot food takeaway and a café.

The proposed site on Barassiebank Lane is hoped to be changed into a hot food takeaway and the development on Ayr Road, Prestwick is proposed to change into a tearoom, however, this has already received an objection.

A resident, who lives across from the post office site on Ayr Road would bring “plenty of noise”.

He said: “I am totally against this application as I stay directly above this proposed tearoom. There is the smell that will undoubtedly filter into my home above.

“The car park at the rear is already congested with people parking and going on the local buses to their work, another eating establishment in this area and there are a few in the immediate vicinity will only make it even worse for local people who actually stay there to get parked.

“A busy tearoom will undoubtedly bring plenty of noise with it and as I work shifts that is definitely a NO from myself and my son.”

Both applications can be viewed on the South Ayrshire Council website.
