A TRIO of Troon women enjoyed an unforgettable day by Royal appointment recently.
Troon Community Council chairwoman Helen Duff was invited to a garden party in Holyrood Palace.
And 2016 Troon Civic Award winner Sheila Cameron and Community Councillor Dawn Barr went along as her guests.
Helen said: “I got a call a few months ago inviting me to the garden party and it was a bit out of the blue but I was delighted. It was great to have the chance to mingle with the Queen, Prince Andrew and Edward and the other guests.
“There was a brass band who played a selection of tunes and it was a great day - a once-in-a lifetime opportunity.”
This was the second time Sheila and Dawn had attended a garden party at the Capital venue.
Sheila said: “I went way back in 1975 with my dad, Fred who was recognised for his voluntary work and my mum Nancy.
“It was a real honour to be asked to go along with Helen and Dawn. It was a really good event and we had a great time.”
Added Dawn: “I was at a garden party at Holyrood four years ago and I enjoyed going again.
“There must have been between 4,000 and 7,000 people there from all different parts of the country,”
The music was good and we enjoyed a spread of sandwiches and cakes along with ice-cream. It was a great day.”
